Pole Barns in Kentucky

For a post-frame buyer, the practical consequence is procedural rather than technical: there is one state-level starting point to check, and a local building department applying that framework, instead of a set of unrelated county positions. It does not tell you what your building will need, and this page will not guess at that; it tells you where the answer comes from.
The second change is scale. Kentucky counted 69,425 farms in the 2022 Census of Agriculture across 12,431,190 acres of land in farms, an average of 179 acres. That is a large number of comparatively small operations. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture puts it another way: close to half of the state's roughly 25 million acres is involved in farming. Western Coalfields

Mississippian Plateau / Pennyroyal
South-central Kentucky, characterised by karst landscape features. Where surface drainage disappears rather than running off, where water goes during a heavy event is a question worth resolving with your site contractor early.

That figure is a station normal published by the National Weather Service for the 1991-2020 period, not a design value, and nothing on this page converts it into a load or a specification.
