Component brand names turn up on quotes, drawings and submittals long before most buyers have any way to judge what they mean. A brand guide is our attempt to fix that: what the company publishes, how its product range is organised, where it fits into a steel building project, and what you should confirm before a product is specified.
These are not reviews, ratings or rankings, and we do not name a best brand. We have no commercial relationship with the companies covered, and none of them receives your quote request.
How to use brand information during quote research
Use a brand guide to get specific, not to pick a winner. If you know the difference between a concealed-fastener and an exposed-fastener roof panel, you can ask a supplier which one they quoted and why — and that single question does more for your comparison than any brand preference.
Raise brand preferences early. Some building suppliers furnish only their own panel line, some will substitute a named brand, and some buy through distribution. Asking after the quote is signed rarely changes anything.

Component brand, building supplier, contractor: what is the difference?
- Component brand
- Supplies a part of the building — panels, framing members, insulation, doors. Usually reaches your project through someone else's scope.
- Building supplier
- Quotes and delivers a building package: frame, secondary framing, panels, trim and openings. This is who you normally compare quotes between.
- Contractor or erector
- Builds it on site. Frequently a separate contract from the building package, and a common source of surprise cost when it is assumed to be included.
What buyers should verify
- That the product named in a quote is the product you discussed — profile, gauge, coating.
- Whether your building supplier can actually furnish that brand, before it becomes a condition.
- Warranty terms, availability and lead time directly with the parties responsible for them. We publish none of these.
